so basically. we spend lessons painstakingly analysing words, looking for sexual connotations.
and we've been trying this on our other lit tutor, ms khoo too. HAHA.
"i think i should have a talk with ms liew. not everything is linked to sex."
she said this after a particularly erm.. enjoyable lesson. we've been spending her tutorials sexing up any single word that comes our way. last week it was baboons, periwinkles and Tigers (from the poem Disillusionment at Ten 'O Clock).
today it was "a long slice of white cake" and "spiced baked ham.." from The Great Gatsby. which i seriously think DOES carry sexual connotations. HAHA. after all, "food is sex." you know, the whole idea of pleasure and satiation.. f---ing in the cornfield? HAHAHA.
after that lesson, we walked all the way to the class bench calling out at the top of our lungs, "food is sex!" and "nick (carroway, not mok) is gay!"
:DDD
spent most of our 1.5 hour break talking about sex and death. i dont know how i entered that convo. with jillian (goh), cedric, yijun, alan and jillian's friend. basically tried to link everything to sex and death. like. someone would bring up a random object. we would then identify whether it was linked to sex or death. and then tried to explain the link. and these links gradually grew more and more.. okay. less and less related to literature. amazing. -.-
we're doing war poems next year. i really wonder what my class will start coming up with. bloodshed, violence, death, graphic images. yes, i see it now. HAHA.
"food is sex."
